The unique design aspects of the MX 980 are the ear hooks and unlike ordinary ear hooks, they are made of flexible materials and are completely adjustable to fit any sized ear. This nice addition significantly reduces the number of needed accessories without limiting the customization options. There is no longer a need to carry so many accessories when travelling.

Still, a few accessories are included in the package such as four individual ear pads for added comfort and a cable clip to keep the cable out of the way. The included inflight adapter is also equipped with a 3.5 mm double mono jack. All of these accessories fit neatly inside the compact carrying case and can even wind the cable.

The cable itself measures 1.2 meters long symmetrically and has an adjustable splitter to really customize the fit. Just below the splitter is a built-in volume control for added convenience. At the end of the cable lies a 3.5 mm plug that can both rotate at any angle or come out completely straight adding good compatibility to all kinds of devices. The sound quality of the Sennheiser OMX 980 is very similar to the other two devices of the series although it lacks some of the flexible listening options that the CX 980 provides. In summary, the OMX 980 sounds much better than the ordinary headphones and falls a bit short when pitted against the IEM earphones.
