Monster Turbine
For the sake of explanation the Monster Turbine In-Ear Speakers are earphones but in performance these are no less than speakers that deliver deep bass and crisp music right inside the ears while blocking out distortion from outside. With so much outside noise trying to get inside your ears it is vital that you get in-ear speakers that not only deliver high-quality sound but also stop outside noise from marring that rich experience.
Design
The Monster Turbine In-Ear Speakers are truly designed like a small winding turbine in black with chrome housing that is made completely of metal to eliminate vibration and improve sound quality. The earphones, oops, speakers also feature conical shaped ear tips that taper into the ear to block out all unwanted sound from outside. The speakers truly look high-tech in a market where each manufacturer is now trying to design earphones that stand out from the crowd. The in-ear speakers can sit snugly in your ear without requiring any force. The entire package of the earphones along with various sized ear-tips are housed in a compact protective case with a magnetic clasp and lined inside with suede, making it look more like a cool jewelry case. Compared to over-the-ear headphones or round earphones that need to be shoved into the ear, these in-ear speakers are so designed as to sit cozily inside your ear canal and provide hours of clear music.
Specifications
Although the Monster Turbine In-Ear Speakers have the usual frequency response of most other earphones in the market, namely 20 Hz to 20 kHz, it is the way in which sound is transported to your ear drums that makes all the difference. The tangle-free feature of the wires along with Micro-Strand conductors ensure extended frequency response that results in tighter sound quality and low levels of distortion. Their patented Magnetic FluxTube technology ensures a natural reproduction of each instrument along with better vocals, while the 24K gold contacts ensure clear signal transfer without any distortion and improved corrosion resistance. All-in-all the earphones offer the same specifications as similarly priced competitors, but you have to hear them to believe the sound that they deliver, and that too in total comfort.
“I’ve been looking for decent in-ear headphones for quite a while. I’ve tried Sonys, and eventually bought the Bose offering, which was disappointing given Bose’s reputation and price. Still, they were better than the ones that came with the iPod, so I had just about resigned myself to the fact that I was never going to get from earbuds the kind of sound over-the-ears headphones provide. Then I tried these, and the difference was night and day.
The first thing a good pair of headphones has to do of course is isolate the sound from the ambient noise, especially in a car. The Monster turbines do this better than any I’ve ever heard, even nearly obliterating the sound of a competing car radio. (I worry about hearing sirens while driving, they’re so good).
Once the background is taken care of, the sound is superb — clear, balanced, and finely detailed. I’m a fairly eclectic listener, and everyone from Puccini to Sigur Ros sounds good through these. It remains undistorted even at high volumes, but high volumes are less necessary with these. Finally, these are comfortable to wear. The soft rubber tips (a variety of sizes and shapes provided) fit comfortably in my small ear canal, and hardly ever fall out.
The only reason I give these 4 stars instead of 5 is the price, which I find to be a bit excessive for ANY earbuds. But it may be a case of getting what you pay for. “

Performance
As mentioned earlier, it is the rocking performance of the Monster Turbine In-Ear Speakers that separates them from other similarly-priced or even costlier earphones. The first difference that you will instantly notice is the tight and natural bass that is sure to bring a smile on your face. You will now be able to hear each clear thump inside your ear with the effect of a sub-woofer and this is why they are known as in-ear speakers. If you find outside sound leaking into your ears then most probably you might be wearing the wrong-sized ear-tips. In that case, you should notice a definite difference after changing over to the correct sized ear-tips suited for your ears. The mid-range and high-range sounds too are quite crisp and clear. Whether you love listening to Rock, Pop, Classical or any other type of music, you are sure to find the right settings that help you enjoy crystal-clear natural sound that does not make your ears uncomfortable for hours on end, although it is highly recommended to keep the volume at a comfortable level most of the time.
You might notice a downward shift in sound quality if your audio file is not compressed at ideal levels or if your mobile phone or any other audio source does not match with your Turbines. You can simply confirm that by connecting your In-Ear Speakers to another audio source and listening to a different song. The Monster Turbine In-Ear Speakers take great pains to separate different frequencies and present them to your ear drums in such a manner that each instrument sounds exactly the way you had imagined it would sound.
Conclusion
At slightly less than $200, the Monster Turbine In-Ear Speakers might seem costly but they do provide for a very good deal in spite of the presence of several competitors. But the competitors that provide the same sound quality are noticeably costlier too. The design and features of not only the earphones but also the cable make these Turbines a good buy, as the sound quality especially in the lower range is simply fantastic. These In-Ear Speakers are sure to please your ears as they offer hours of comfortable listening at a price that will surely not be painful to your ears once you plug them in.
Actual User Reviews:
• “I purchased Monster Turbine in-ear speakers during Amazon’s gold box deal. I clicked the button out of an impulse even without reading any review. I knew Monster products are always ridiculously overpriced. But, with a <1/2 of original Amazon typically-low selling price, I thought I could gamble.
I bought it for my wife who wanted a noise-canceling ear phone during the airplane flight. I have a pair of Bose quiet comfort over-the-ear noise canceling earphone. She did not like it for its bulkiness.
When I received the earphone, after a few trials of the ear pieces, I was blown away by the quality of the sound. As long as you find a pair of ear pieces when achieve a seal without hurting your ears, the sound is just so great that I can not take it off.
Then, last week, during a business trip, I brought both my Bose noise-canceling earphone and Monster turbine and compared. To my big surprise, Monster actually beat Bose with both sound quality and noise reduction clearly. The passive noise isolation of Monster still left some audible engine noise. Bose's active noise canceling canceled the low frequency sound but generated a high pitch noise. I actually prefer the passive noise isolation now. I also wore it in the airport and I felt like I was in a movie where I saw people rushing by me and all I heard was beautiful background music. The caveat is that you might not hear the paging in the airport.
Now, I think I am going to take this little gem with me whenever I travel. And, my wife can have it when I am not using it.
The only drawback is that the ear pieces still cause some hurts after a long wear."

I bought these to replace a pair of the old Bose in-ear earbuds that shorted out on me. I work in a lab so I needed something that could drown out the overbearing machinery sounds all day without having to jack the volume way up. I also wanted something that was going to fit relatively comfortably and would not fall out easily. Originally I had gone in looking strictly at Bose and Beats (having had overall positive experiences with both). However, after one of the retail guys suggested the Turbines, and reading some reviews on here, I decided to take the risk and buy these instead. Needless to say I was not disappointed! The first thing that really struck me about these buds was the incredible sound clarity that they put out. The first track I listened to was a live in-studio version of Skynyrd’s Tuesday’s Gone. I quite literally felt like I was sitting right in the studio with the band, something that no other sound system I’ve owned has been able to do so easily or so well. The second thing I noticed was just how solid the Treble highs, mids and Bass lows are. Listening to Jay-Z’s Run This Town and various Linkin Park songs definitely brought this to a head. I was hearing bass line’s I had never picked up on before and a renewed richness in the mid to high level notes like never before. The overall comfort and fit does take a bit of getting used to but once you do, you don’t even notice they’re in. They come with about 3-4 different sets of eartips which not only makes custom fitting a snap but also allows for some individuality if you prefer different “styles” of eartip. Also, not having to worry about the cord getting tangled all the way up to below my chin was a DEFINITE improvement over my last pair. Plus, the buds come with a handy shirt clip definitely eliminated any chance of the cord snagging. Lastly, the customer service, just from the prepackaged manuals and information, is second to none! No other earbud company I have encountered has actually given a written set of instructions on how to clean and generally care for your earbuds, Monster does. And buying a set of earbuds that come with a 3-year mfr warranty is AWESOME and definitely something that will keep me coming back to the Monster brand. In closing, If you’re in the market for a new set of headphones or in-ear earbuds, DEFINITELY take a good look at these! You will NOT be disappointed!” – R.Staunch (OR,USA)
